I have the responsibility for making plans for our mission trips to the foreign missions for our congregation, including finding and securing the air line tickets. I have been looking for several days to find affordable tickets for 9 to Singapore. I have used many sites online, but the tickets all were much more expensive this year than last.

My subscription to the Galveston daily news began this morning. We got off to a good start. I specified on the phone to the solicitor where I wanted the paper to be thrown, and the delivery boy/man/woman got that right!

The paper is not big, compared to the Houston Chronicle, but it focuses on the news and activity in Galveston County, where I live. The local high school sports events were covered. And the comic strip has a few of my old favorites that are no longer in the Chronicle.

We will have to see how it goes from here, but it was a good beginning.

The nation’s largest law enforcement agency, The Fraternal Order of Police, has made an announcement regarding the new offering they are making for all those who make a donation to the organization. Supporters for 2007 will Get your FOP Gold Supporter Shield that can be displayed in the window of your car or in your home. This is the first year that the shield is done in metal, in either gold, silver, or bronze, making it more impressive. The gold shield is awarded for a donation of at least $85, silver for a donation of $65 or bronze for a $45 donation. The design of the shield includes a five point star in the middle of the shield, encircled in blue. On the blue circle are the words Fraternal Order of Police.

This mixture of citrus juices has a tangy flavor, and is a favorite beverage of all my grandkids. I just found out about Grokodile, which is a directory of web or blog sites on regional list. The idea is to build a community of web sites in a particular region of the world. When you visit the site you a prompted to click on the portion North America in which you live and maintain a blog or web site. When I clicked on the United States, I found that all the states were on the page. I clicked on Texas. That led me to a page listing all the counties in the state. When I clicked on Galveston, I was offered the opportunity to add my blog to the directory of sites for Galveston County. At the time of my registration, there were only three others listed on the page. After verification of my registration, I was given a code which I can link my blog back to the Grokodile site. In this day when presence on the web is benefited by mutual links, this seems to be a good idea.
