My wife’s mother has been in deteriorating health for about five years, but in recent weeks she has had to be in the hospital several times and her strength is waning. She has been living alone and does not want to give up her independence with her 80th birthday just over a month away. But she cannot walk without the assistance of a walker now, and she has fallen twice in the past month.
My wife and her brothers are trying to convince their mom that she should either move in with one of them or move into one of the care homes near her neighborhood. They have been looking at Bettercaring.com to get advice and assurances that they might offer their mom, but as of this moment, she is not listening to any of it, at least on the surface. But she knows that she cannot go on loosing strength and stay on her own!
